CEBU, Philippines - A security guard died after he was stabbed by a former guard who suspected him of being responsible for his dismissal from his job in Barangay Dumlog, Talisay City last Friday.
Police identified the fatality as Bryan Leona, 22, who worked as a security guard under E and R Security Agency and is assigned with Geo Construction while the suspect is Judie Daquiado, 38, a former guard of the same security agency.
Investigation showed that prior to the stabbing, Leona went to the satellite market in Barangay Dumlog to buy food when Daquiado, who was armed with a hatchet locally known as plamingko, arrived and stabbed him in the stomach.
The victim was rushed to the Talisay City District Hospital for treatment and was referred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center but he did not make it there alive.
Barangay tanod Bonifacio Panon responded to the area and had a brief scuffle with the suspect.
Panon reportedly tried to grapple the weapon from the suspect and succeeded in grabbing it but the suspect was still able to escape.
The suspect fled with the weapon. But he was arrested by the police in a follow up operation at past 8 pm on the same day.
Investigation showed that the suspect was mad with the victim, believing that the latter was the reason he was fired. — (FREEMAN)
