For private vehicles Part of Escario open to 2-way traffic

- The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - Following complaints, the stretch of Escario St. from Gorordo Ave. to Cebu Business Park has finally been opened to two-way traffic.

But because there are still some posts that have yet to be removed, traffic is limited to private vehicles and taxicabs, said Joy Tumulak, executive assistant of the Cebu City Traffic Operations Management.

“For now, gitagaan sa nato og priority ang mga private cars ug taxi. Wa lang sa ang mga PUJ kay wala pa naman nahurot og ibot ang mga poste,” said Tumulak.

He said that the telecommunication companies that own these posts have assured to have these moved off the road by early next week.

These posts have been left almost in the middle of the road after the city implemented the road expansion project almost 10 years ago, yet until last Thursday the expanded road has remained one-way.

Tumulak shared that based on their observation; the scheme will considerably lessen the traffic congestion in the area. They hope to see more progress once the jeepneys are allowed to use this particular road, he said.

Traffic enforcers were posted to man this section.

Meanwhile, plastic barriers have been posted in lieu of the supposed solid yellow line which Tumulak said will be installed next month. — (FREEMAN)
