CEBU, Philippines - The Visayan Electric Company Inc. has denied reports that their electrical posts remained in the middle of the newly widened Escario Extension road.
VECO spokesperson Ethel Natera said there is no more VECO poles left on the road.
“VECO transferred its poles to the side months ago. Last Tuesday, we also removed a wooden pole which only had telco lines on it. VECO wires were removed when we transferred our poles. The telcos were supposed to remove the poles but we had to do it even if it meant dangling their wires on the road. Eventually the telcos removed their wires yesterday,” Natera said in a text message sent to The FREEMAN.
Natera likewise denied that their wires were among the so-called “spaghetti wires” affecting the motorists.
The problem was earlier brought to the attention of Cebu City Michael Rama. The mayor assured to act on the complaint as soon as possible. — (FREEMAN)
