CEBU, Philippines - Two persons died after the motorcycle they were riding sideswiped a 16-year-old boy causing them to fall into the ground in Barangay Bantigue, Bantayan Monday morning.
Sinon Rivera, 30, of Barangay Guiwanon, and Wilson Navarro, 22, of Barangay Binabao suffered severe injuries in different parts of their bodies. They were both rushed to the Bantayan District Hospital.
Rivera did not make it alive while Navarro died in the hospital several hours later.
Mark Carabio who was hit by the motorcycle sustained minor injuries.
He was taken to the same hospital but was sent home after treatment.
Rivera worked for Durabloom Poultry Farm in Barangay Guiwanon and resident of Barangay Kinatarcan, Sta. Fe.
PO3 Lou Susvilla, police investigator, said Rivera and Navarro were riding a motorcycle on their way to Barangay Guiwanon from Barangay Poblacion when the accident happened.
Upon reaching Barangay Bantigue, Rivera accidentally sideswiped Carabio who was walking at the roadside to the poultry farm.
This caused the motorcycle to flip. Rivera and Navarro were thrown off and hit the road.
Susvilla said Rivera and Navarro seemed drunk as they smelled liquor when taken to the hospital and were not wearing helmets at that time.
“Wala ta’y ma-filan og kaso kay patay man gyud ang driver hasta ang kauban,” Susvilla said in a phone interview. — (FREEMAN)
