MVIS has new chief
CEBU, Philippines - The Motor Vehicle Inspection System in Cebu has a new head promising a more efficient delivery of service.
Arnel Tancinco, assistant regional director of the Land Transportation Office-7 is now the concurrent officer in charge of MVIS.
Tancinco, in an interview with The FREEMAN, said that he assumed his position last Monday and assured that motor vehicles who did not undergo inspection will receive no clearance.
“Naay mga report nga naay mga vehicle nga nahatagan og clearance bisan wala gi-inspection. This time, we will make sure di na mahitabo. (There are reports of vehicles that were given clearance even if it did not undergo inspection. This time, we will make sure this will not happen),” Tancinco said.
The MVIS report is necessary as a pre-requisite for the registration of motor vehicles.
Vehicle inspection costs from P50 to P150 per unit depending on the type of vehicle.
Tancinco said that he will just implement LTO administrative order ACL 2009-018 or the “Revised Administrative Order on the new Motor Vehicle Inspection System.”
“I will not promise reform but rather implementation of the said administrative order,” he said.
The LTO order prescribes the rules and regulations in the inspection of all motor vehicles as a requirement in the motor vehicle registration.
Among other objectives, the order seeks “to provide systematic, reliable, and effective testing of motor vehicles through computerization and automation for compliance to safety and emission requirements.” — Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon/MIT(FREEMANNEWS)
