Boy killed by "drug addict" laid to rest

CEBU, Philippines - The two-year-old boy who was killed by a suspected drug addict last Tuesday was laid to rest yesterday afternoon at a public cemetery in Barangay Poblacion, Talisay City.

Emotions filled the air as the coffin of Jeffrey Abusejo, Jr. was slowly placed inside his final resting place after a requiem mass at the Sto. Niño Church in Barangay Mohon.

While grieving for the loss of their boy, Jeffrey, Sr. and Joan, vowed to pursue the case against Kienner Baller, 35, of Barangay Biasong.

A 13-year-old girl who witnessed the incident Tuesday last week surfaced yesterday and recounted how Baller killed the boy.

The witness said that Baller did not only hit the victim's head on the concrete road but held him by his feet and slammed into a vehicle parked along the road.

The witness said she was watching the incident from the window of their house.

According to her, she also saw how Baller bit the boy's neck after hitting his head against the road and the vehicle.

The witness said Joan, victim's mother, tried to rescue her son from the suspect but she was pushed aside. The mother cried for help from the neighbors but the victim was already half dead.

He was rushed to the hospital but he did not anymore make it.

A barangay tanod of Biasong yesterday said that Baller had been giving them headache. The tanod said Baller had been acting strangely and is said to be using illegal drugs since his wife left him two years ago.

Baller killed the boy after the latter ran into him while playing with the other kids in Barangay Biasong. Baller claimed the boy was an "alien" trying to kill him. (FREEMAN)
