Six men nabbed in drug bust
CEBU, Philippines - Six men were arrested after they were caught in possession with suspected shabu in separate areas of Cebu recently.
The latest operation was held last Friday afternoon in Barangay Dapitan, Cordova, which led to the arrest of three men during a buy-bust operation.
The suspects were identified as Edwin Nuñez, 40; Rolly Dinoy, 21; and his brother Romar Dinoy, 19. All suspects are residents of the place.
According to the investigation, the police were able to recover 10 small plastic sachets of suspected shabu from the suspects.
Police were also able to seize P400 cash from the suspect believed to be the proceeds of their illegal activities, a cellular phone, and two P100 bills used as buy-bust money.
Investigation further showed that the suspects earlier “transacted” with the police who posed as buyers.
The suspects went to meet with their buyer at past 5 pm last Friday, but it turned out that the buyers were law enforcers. The operation was held in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 7.
The suspects are now detained while charges are being filed against them.
In a separate incident, three other men were arrested by police, who acted on a report from a concerned citizen over rampant selling of shabu in sitio Tapon, Barangay Napo, Carcar City last Thursday.
Around 10:30 pm last Thursday, police received a telephone call regarding an ongoing pot session in sitio Tapon.
Police held a short briefing and went to a grassy area in the sitio were the suspects were allegedly having a pot session.
An hour later, they were able to arrest Joseph Sitoy, 27, of Barangay Mangyan, Sibonga; Teotimo Navasca, 24, of Barangay Napo; and Nelson Dayondon, 40, also of Barangay Napo.
Investigation showed that Sitoy was caught in the act of having in his possession four small sachets of suspected shabu and 11 rolled tinfoil strips placed inside a vapor rub box and on a red pouch.
Five other sachets of the same substance and 16 rolled tinfoil strips placed inside a cardboard box were recovered from Navasca, while Dayondon yielded five pieces of the same substance and nine tinfoil strips on a cardboard box, too.
Police said that during the operation, two men were able to run away and eluded arrest.
The suspects are now detained while the 14 sachets of suspected illegal drugs recovered from them were subjected to a laboratory examination. — (FREEMAN)
