CEBU, Philippines - The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Central Visayas is set to transfer to its new building at the province-owned property in Sudlon, Lahug, Cebu City on September 17.
PDEA-7 Director Jigger Montallana met Governor Gwendolyn Garcia last week to finalize the schedule for the inauguration and blessing of PDEA’s new office.
The two-storey building is adjacent to the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO).
Garcia said earlier that the construction of PDEA’s building is a fulfillment of her promise to support PDEA as one of the lead agencies in the provincial government’s campaign against illegal drugs.
Montallana said PDEA is looking forward to transferring to the new building, which will be more spacious and can house the agency’s state-of-the-art equipment. He said the building’s new location is safer not only for their personnel but also for their expensive equipment.
The Province of Cebu also shouldered the construction cost of the building amounting to P7.8 million.
PDEA Director General and Undersecretary Jose Gutierrez who was present during the groundbreaking last February 7, 2012 thanked Garcia for providing the headquarters. (FREEMAN)
