Jobless man shot dead

CEBU, Philippines - A 26-year-old man died instantly after he was shot in the head by unidentified people at Spolarium St., Barangay Duljo-Fatima at past 5 am yesterday.

Police identified the fatality as Rodney Pusta Rollon, jobless, and a resident of F. Jaca St., Barangay Pardo. His attackers were not identified.

According to Rollon’s cousin, 34-year-old Agnice Pusta Delute, they went to the interior portion of sitio Catwalk purposely to visit a friend.

The two arrived at their destination but Rollon left shortly and went back to the roadside for reasons Delute did not know. There, an unidentified man shot Rollon.

The victim sprawled on the ground and died immediately of a gunshot wound to his head.

Police responded to the crime scene but failed to arrest the assailants.

They eventually recovered an empty shell and a live bullet from a caliber 9mm pistol near the victim’s body.

PO3 Diosdado Andales of Mambaling Police Station said they are still determining the motive behind the attack.

Andales surmised though that the assailant might have just shot the victim for no reason at all.

“Di man gud na taga-diha ang biktima. Posible gipareglahan g’yud na, (The victim was possibly shot just because he was not from the area.)” the police officer said.

The body was taken to Saint Francis Funeral Homes. (FREEMAN)
