Search for best OFW family on
CEBU, Philippines - The Overseas Workers Welfare Administartion-7 is on its 8th year in searching for the “Model OFW Family of the Year”.
Nominations are accepted at the OWWA Regional Welfare Office-7 on or before August 31, 2012.
In a press statement, OWWA-7 said religious organizations can nominate a family from Region -7 whose head is a land-based or sea-based OFW either married, single or the family’s main provider.
The OFW must have at least four years of work experience overseas and can either be presently or formerly working abroad.
The award is a medium for recognizing the achievements of the OFWs and their families in managing the impact of overseas employment in family life and for exemplifying the best practices of OFW families towards optimizing its gains, OWWA said.
The criteria for choosing the MOFYA winners are the wholesomeness OFW family, civic/community involvement, success in OFW and/or family member/s education or profession and success in managing family finances.
One model OFW family from land-based category and another from sea-based category will be chose to compete in the national finals this year. — (FREEMAN)
