CEBU, Philippines - The disciplinary board of the Cebu City Jail is yet to decide what sanctions will be given to Isidro Nudalo, 37, who is currently detained at the maximum security cell after he was found having in his possession a box containing a .22 caliber pistol with four live ammunition.
The board is headed by deputy jail warden Eric Relucio and is composed of other jail officials including one inmate who stands as representative of those detained in the facility.
Cebu City Jail warden Johnson Calub said it will be the board who will decide how long Nudalo will stay inside the maximum security cell, if he will still be given visiting privileges, and of good conduct time allowance.
“He violated the policy inside the jail and we will wait for the decision of the board,” Calub said in a phone interview.
Nudalo got a .22 caliber pistol reportedly through the garbage truck that entered the jail shortly before midday last Wednesday. However, nobody knew who handed the pistol to Nudalo after the truck boys denied involvement.
Records of the Cebu City Jail reveal that the garbage truck left at around 1:30p.m. after collecting sacks of garbage.
Calub then received information from his asset that the “item” was already inside the jail around 2:45p.m.
“We already knew about it, we just waited for timing to catch him,” Calub told The FREEMAN.
Because of the incident, Calub requested for the replacement of the two truck boys whom he suspected of having a hand in the incident.
The garbage truck will also no longer enter the second fence of the jail where the inmates are to prevent the truck boys from mingling with the inmates.
“Sa cafeteria na lang kutob ang basura, kami na’y mudala isakay ug kariton (The dumptruck will only be allowed near the cafeteria and we will be the ones to bring the garbage to them onboard a cart.)” Calub said. - THE FREEMAN
