German national indicted in string of criminal cases

CEBU, Philippines - A German national accused of carnapping and maltreatment of his housemaid was indicted by the Cebu City Prosecutors’ Office in four criminal complaints filed against him.

Assistant city prosecutor Alex Gabud has charged Peter Maik Kimmir alias Migel Glanzel for carnapping, illegal possessions of firearm, drug paraphernalia and Nubain. The prosecutor’s office has recommended a total of P470,000 bail in all three charges for Kimmir’s temporary liberty.

Gabud found probable cause to elevate the charges—violations of Section 12, Article 2 of Republic Act 9165 or illegal possession of drug paraphernalia; Section 11, Article II, RA 9165 or illegal possession of Nubain; RA 8294 or illegal possession of firearms; and carnapping, against Kimmer after he waived his right to avail of a preliminary investigation.

Kimmer was earlier arrested by the elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group because of the complaint for carnapping filed by Emmanuel Barreto, Jr. of the Cebu Trip Rent-a-Car.

Barreto sought the assistance of CIDG-7 on August 10 after the accused failed to return the car he has rented on May 29.

The vehicle was tracked using the Global Positioning System installed by the company resulting in the arrest of the accused. During the arrest the police found at least three unlicensed firearms, drug paraphernalia and illegal drugs.

There were also personal effects like mask that were recovered from the accused believed to have used by him in his illegal activities.

On August 11, 2012 in the morning a certain Melody Navaja, who claimed to be Kimmir’s househelp at his rented house in Barangay Zapatera, also reported to the police. She alleged to have been maltreated by the accused.

A separate case for physical injuries was also filed against Kimmir before the Municipal Trial Court in Cities. - THE FREEMAN
