Businessman in Danao City loses P300T during hold-up
CEBU, Philippines - A store selling wholesale items in Danao City lost P300,000 to robbers when its owner, a Chinese national, was held up around 10 a.m. yesterday.
SPO1 Bryan Batiquin of the Danao City Police said that Kiesonhuk Kwa, 22, the owner of Dakoykoy Enterprises, was heading toward a branch of Allied Bank to deposit the money when held up by two men on board a motorcycle.
The incident happened past 10 a.m.
Batiquin said it was reportedly Kwa who asked the driver, Noel Pasay, to pass through Beatrice Village in Barangay Poblacion to avoid traffic.
But the decision turned out to be a bad one because it was in Beatrice Village where the two suspects blocked the tricycle and declared a hold-up.
One of the suspects even fired a warning shot, prompting Kwa to turn over the money due to fear.
The two suspects were reportedly wearing bonnets.
Police recovered a slug of a 9mm pistol from the crime scene.
Batiquin said it was obvious that the suspects were keeping an eye on Kwa’s movements.
“Regular man gud ni niya gihimo kada-Lunes man gyud na unya anha gyud na siya tig-agi-an,” Batiquin said.
As part of the investigation, police confiscated Pasay’s mobile phone to determine if he has anything to do with the crime, particularly if he was communicating with the suspects.
“Twice pa nakasakay ang victim sa sikad pero apil gihapon ang driver sa investigation,” Batiquin said.
The P300,000 was the store’s total earnings for the past week. - THE FREEMAN
