CEBU, Philippines - Businessman Glenn Anthony Soco yesterday maintained his interest in seeking the vice guvernatorial post in next year’s election following reports that he is being eyed as possible candidate for mayor in Mandaue City.
Soco visited Mandaue City and met youth leaders in the different barangays to inform them that there are no changes in his interest to seek the vice gubernatorial post.
Different youth organizations in Mandaue City endorsed Soco to seek the Cebu Provincial Government’s second highest position.Soco, who ran as Garcia’s runningmate in the 2010 elections, said that even after the last elections he still continued his visits in the different municipalities.
“Bisan wala kita magmalampuson sa atong tinguha, apan atong gipakita sa atong mga kaigsoonan sa kalungsuran nga sinsero ta sa atong saad nga mutabang sa atong kaigsoonan nga makasulod og trabaho,” said Soco. (Even if I did not succeed in getting elected as vice governor, I tried to show our towns that I was sincere in my promise to help them.)
According to Soco, his visits to the different barangays and municipalities and cities were to help the program of the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA) Director General Joel Villanueva.
He admitted that his name floated as candidate for different positions but said there are no changes so far as he is seeking the vice governor’s post.
During his visit to the different barangays, towns and cities, he encountered people who believe in his advocacy to help them look for jobs.
He admitted that everyday there are job openings but those who are applying do not have the qualifications.
Soco, who is running the Global Power Skills Development Center, Inc., said that they are helping TESDA to train people to make it easier for them in getting jobs.
