Drugs eyed in labangon shooting "Killer" identified
CEBU, Philippines - Police have already identified and are now hunting down one of two men who allegedly shot a suspected drug lord dead in Barangay Labangon last Tuesday afternoon.
Senior Insp. Jul Mohammad Jamiri, head of Cebu City Police Office Homicide Section, said they have already identified the backrider of the motorcycle who did not bother concealing his face when he shot Sergio “Doming” Zafra dead.
Jamiri requested that the suspect’s identity be kept confidential while they are conducting operations to arrest him.
Based on the face sketch that the police came up with yesterday, the suspect is estimated to in his mid 20’s or early 30s, at least 5’4 tall, slim-built, and dark-skinned.
The said assailant’s hairstyle has bangs. He has deep-set eyes, high cheekbones, and long chin. He was armed with a caliber .45 pistol, which he used in shooting Zafra.
Jamiri said they are checking if the assailant is a gun-for-hire. Information that the authorities gathered further showed that the gunman was also involved in a previous shooting incident.
The Homicide Section head said that they are still trying to identify the motorcycle driver who first approached and shot Zafra. The driver covered his face with a cloth.
Illegal drugs remain the primary motive being eyed in the attack, Jamiri said, saying that the victim was known to be a drug pusher and has been arrested for an illegal drugs case.
Zafra, 47, died from six gunshot wounds in different parts of his body.
He was standing in Salvador Ext. at 3 pm last Tuesday apparently waiting for someone when he was shot.
Zafra, a resident of A. Lopez St. of the same barangay, arrived in the area on a motorcycle driven by a relative.
After shooting Zafra, one of the assailants pointed the gun at the relative. They apparently decided to spare him and sped off. — (FREEMAN)
