Frustrated homicide for boy who slashed GF
CEBU, Philippines - For waiving his right to avail of preliminary investigation to answer the allegations filed against him, the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office indicted a 17-year-old boy for frustrated homicide after he slashed the neck of his girlfriend.
Prosecutor Marlon Atillo recommended the filing of the case after the respondent choose not to file a counter-affidavit.
Atillo also recommended a P24,000 bail for the respondent’s temporary liberty.
The respondent voluntarily surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation last Sunday for “security purposes”.
He was accused of slashing the neck of his girlfriend Mariel Marie Abad, 21, in his room in his house in Sitio Kantibhang, Barangay Lower Pakigne, Minglanilla town, last Friday.
In his extra-judicial confession, the victim confessed to have committed the offense.
He said he accidentally “stabbed” his girlfriend’s neck after an argument but NBI agent Reynan Oliva clarified she really suffered a slash wound.
The respondent’s lawyer Rowell Juban told the media that although the case filed against his client was bailable still they opted not to post bail.
He said they want the minor to be in a safe place for his own security.
“As of this time, we won’t post bail. We cannot assure the safety of the minor because we don’t know the feelings of the victim’s family,” he said.
When asked about any threats, Juban said they just heard rumors but are not taking chances and so they chose to take the boy to Operation Second Chance in Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City.
Moreover, Juban said they opted not to avail of preliminary investigation as it took 15 days to resolve the complaint. – (FREEMAN)
