Jilted bf slashes woman's neck
CEBU, Philippines - A 17-year-old who reportedly slashed the neck of his girlfriend at the height of their argument last Friday afternoon in Barangay Lower Pakigne, Minglanilla town, is now being sought by the police.
Mariel May Abad, 21, a resident of Barangay Calajo-an, is now fighting for her life after she was slashed in her neck and hands by her boyfriend.
Police said the minor got upset and attacked Abad after she talked about breaking up with him.
Investigation showed that Abad, and the minor were talking in the latter’s house around 4:30 p.m. last Friday when Abad tried to convince him to end their relationship.
At the height of their argument the minor suddenly pulled out a knife and slashed the victim’s neck, he fled leaving the victim in a pool of her own blood.
It was the minor’s neighbors who rushed the victim to the South General Hospital. Chief Insp. Timmar Alam, chief of Minglanilla Police Station, said the victim was not yet in stable condition as of yesterday.
“She is still under observation,” Alam said.
The victim could not also talk yet, but was able to write and identified her boyfriend as the suspect, Alam added.
Alam said they cannot question her further considering her serious condition.
Nobody witnessed the incident as the minor’s mother was in the bedroom when the crime took place.
Police said they are now tracking down the suspect and will file a case against him on Monday.
Meanwhile, two men were shot and injured within five minutes of each other allegedly by two men riding tandem on a motorcycle in Carcar City last Friday night.
The perpetrators first shot and injured Gaspar Alces, 26, and later Virgilio Bacus Jr., 28.
Alces, a native of Bacolod City, was reportedly sitting on a bench beside the road in Barangay Poblacion 1 around 7:50 pm when two men on a Yamaha motorcycle appeared.
The man riding pillion, who was wearing a ball cap and covering his face with a handkerchief, shot at him several times but only hit his right leg. He was taken to the Carcar City Provincial Hospital.
The perpetrators then fled towards sitio Dapdap, Barangay Poblacion 3, where another shooting incident was reported.
Bacus was doing construction work when he was shot by two men believed to be the same men who shot Alces.
Police said the victims’ descriptions of their attackers and the motorcycle they were riding matched.
Police also said the assailants appear to be amateurs and may have just shot the victims for kicks. (FREEMAN)
