Binay sees Liloan as "Little Makati"
CEBU, Philippines - Vice President Jejomar Binay yesterday described the Municipality of Liloan as “Little Makati” of Cebu Province, as he observed its improvements from four years ago.
Binay visited Liloan town to witness the distribution of financial assistance to Barangay Health Workers, Barangay tanods, and scholars.
According to Vice President Binay, he visited Liloan in 2008 when they signed a sisterhood agreement between Liloan and the City of Makati where he used to be mayor.
He lauded the administration of Mayor Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco who introduced changes in Liloan town.
“ I am happy with the increasing development of the town of Liloan since it is the sister town of Makati City,” Binay said.
Binay said the sistert agreement between Makati City and Liloan town will continue and they hope it will further help the town’s development.
Mayor Frasco said the good leadership and administration of Vice President Binay during his time as mayor of Makati City inspired him.
According to Frasco, he asked abour the style of Binay when he was mayor and was advised to prioritize the delivery of basic services. The mayor said his administration now focusing the improvement of the services of health, education and peace and order.
Barangay tanods in 14 barangays of Liloan receive P2,000-monthly allowance, as well as the Barangay Health Workers and Bantay Dagat Members. He said Barangay Nutrition Scholars also receive P3,000 monthly allowance from the municipality.
Governor Gwen Garcia, on the other hand, said that the provincial government will continue providing support to Liloan in terms of projects.
Meanwhile, Third District Rep. Pablo John Garcia who is running for governor said that he will continue the programs started by her sister. Garcia asked the people of Liloan to support him. (FREEMAN)
