CEBU, Philippines - Aside from attending the State of the Province Address (SOPA) of Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, Vice President Jejomar Binay will be gracing two activities in Lilo-an town tomorrow and Saturday.
Liloan Mayor Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco said that Binay, a family friend, will be at the Panphil B. Frasco Gym tomorrow for a medical mission intended to benefit 2,000 people before going to Cebu International Convention Center, the venue of this year’s SOPA.
But before the Lilo-an event, Binay, former president Joseph Estrada and Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile will visit Danao City.
They will meet with around 3,000 people at Danao City Hall before proceeding to the city’s fish port, where a dialogue will be held over lunch.
Frasco said he will be with Binay together with his mother-in-law, Gov. Garcia, in Danao City.
On Saturday, Estrada and Enrile will fly back to Manila while Garcia and Binay will meet with Lilo-an town’s senior citizens.
Binay donated the town’s senior citizens center. Frasco said he will also distribute rice to indigent senior citizens and cash assistance to 448 scholars of Liloan amounting to P2.8 million.
Also during the occassion, Frasco will distribute the monthly allowance of P2,000 each to all barangay health workers and tanods.
Danao City Mayor Ramon “Boy” Durano Jr. said the visit of Binay, Estrada and Enrile in his city has no political color as they just want to talk to senior citizens, workers, farmers, fishers and government workers to find out the projects they need.
Durano earlier said that tomorrow’s activity is contratry to the event last July 7 at the house of his estranged brother, Danao City Vice Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III.
He was referring to the visit of President Benigno Aquino III for the signing of a coalition agreement between the Liberal Party and the Barug Alang sa Kauswagan ug Demokrasya (Bakud). — /MBG (FREEMAN)
