CEBU, Philippines - A man suspected in the killing of a tanod’s son in Barangay Punta Princesa last month was shot dead early yesterday dawn by still unidentified gunman.
Jime Abella, 27, a native of Inabanga, Bohol, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds in the different parts of the body including in the head. Abella, a former taxi driver, had just arrived and was about to enter his house when an unidentified assailant shot him several times.
Roselle Daclan, a vendor, said she had just arrived home when she heard the gunfire prompting her to peep through the window to check.
Daclan said she saw a man wearing blue shirt, holding a handgun and a flashlight. She however did not recognize the gunman.
The victim’s live-in partner, Lovella Baricuatro, 30, said the victim had an argument with a certain Otek Jabonero the night before the shooting. Jabonero allegedly suspected Abella in the killing of his son last month.
SPO1 Ruth Violango, homicide investigator, said they will look into the information given by the victim’s live-in partner.
Violango however clarified that they do not consider Jabonero as suspect because there is direct evidence that would link to him.
But, she said Jabonero will be considered a person of interest and will be a subject of the investigation. (FREEMAN)
