CEBU, Philippines - A man riding a bicycle died after he was hit by a tricycle on the national road of Barangay Dunggo-an, Danao City, Saturday evening.
Cesar Tilag Almagro, 65, of Dawis Sur, Carmen, was rushed to the Danao Provincial Hospital due to severe injuries in the head and different parts of his body but he did not make it there alive.
Vanly Meradores Pugoy, 32, of Sitio Cambenia, Barangay Hagnaya, Carmen, driver of the STX Yamaha passenger tricycle bearing plate number GZ-6101 is now detained at the Danao City police stockade pending the filing of a criminal case in court.
Police investigation revealed that the tricycle came from the Danao public terminal loaded with five passengers and was heading towards Carmen town tailing Almagro who was also traveling on the same lane tailing another tricycle.
SPO1 Reynante Manulat, traffic investigator, said the tricycle ahead of Almagro stopped to unload passengers which prompted Almagro to swerve left.
This time, Pugoy also overtook the tricycle and hit Almagro.
“Kalit man gud kuno kaayo ang pagliko sa bisikleta, (The bike reportedly suddenly swerved.)” Manulat said.
Almagro was thrown away and hit his head on the pavement causing him injuries.
Pugoy voluntarily surrendered to the police after the incident. His tricycle is under police custody.
The police are waiting for the victim’s family to appear at the police station today for the filing of case. — (FREEMAN)
