CEBU, Philippines - The Municipality of Boljoon yesterday received a total of P3.2 million financial assistance for various projects from the Province of Cebu.
The distribution was led by Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, Vice Governor Agnes Magpale and some members of the Provincial Board who were present for their out of town session.
Mayor Teresita Celis received the P636,000 for the construction of its public restroom; P750,000 for the construction of drainage open canal of the farm to market road; and P800,000 for the construction of senior citizens building.
Each of the 11 barangays received P100,000 for the improvement, construction, expansion or completion of day care centers and health centers.
Garcia explained the sum of the financial assistance is downloaded to the local government units who will then implement the project instead of the provincial government.
In the morning, Capitol officials and department heads conducted consultation with the town and barangay officials.
No serious concerns were brought up during the open forum except asking for financial assistance for their projects.
Garcia assured the local officials that she will continue helping their projects if given a seat in the Senate.
In her welcome message, Mayor Teresita Celis introduced Garcia as the incoming Senator.
Celis thanked the Capitol officials especially the PB members for choosing her small town as the venue of their out of town session.
Magpale emphasized that Boljoon is number one in its day tour having rich in cultural and historical heritage.
Second district board members Peter John Calderon and Wilfredo Caminero also welcomed their colleagues attending the out of town session in the town belonging in their district.
Only Board Member Sun Shimura of the fourth district was absent yesterday.
No controversial matters were discussed during the session held at the legislative hall of Boljoon. (FREEMAN)
