CEBU, Philippines - Police have identified the third suspect in the strafing of a house in barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City last Thursday dawn that killed a mother of five.
Police named Deo Malingin, the youngest brother of suspects Demetrio and Jay Malingin, as the one who acted as the look-out.
The three brothers who are residents of Barangay Buaya, Lapu-Lapu City remain at large.
Investigation revealed that Demetrio and Jay fired the shots at the house of Prima and Jerry Aying while Deo was the look-out.
Prima, 42, an employee of a furniture firm at the Mactan Economic Zone, sustained a gunshot wound in her head that caused her death.
Jerry said he was the target of the attack. He and their five children were unharmed.
Jerry is now under the custody of the police for fear that the siblings will continue to hunt him.
Police personnel also conduct patrolling in Barangay Mactan and at the residence of the Ayings where Prima’s wake is held.
“Wa sad namo gipa- sige og uli si Jerry kay basin gi-monitor ni siya sa mga suspect,” said Senior Insp. Zenaido Pastorfide, chief of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Homicide Section. (We don’t allow Jerry to go home because the suspects might be monitoring his movements.)
Pastorfide added they are coordinating with Mactan Police Station in pursuing the case.
Lapu-lapu City Police Office Director Senior Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas said there is no need to create a task force as they have already identified the suspects.
Police revealed that the Malingins and the Ayings have a long standing grudge.
The brothers were identified as the ones who killed Jerry’s brother Roy Aying in November last year.
Demetrio is reportedly a drug lord and Roy was his runner.
Demetrio threatened to kill Jerry for standing as the complainant in the murder case that was filed in relation to Roy’s death. (FREEMAN)
