Cebu tourism campaign ad out by August

- The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - The tourism campaign advertisement of the Province of Cebu will be released by August this year, this according to Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.

Although she refused to reveal further details, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia yesterday told reporters that she already met with the director who is a Cebuano.

“We could have tapped the services of some high-level, high-price PR firm to produce that advertisement,” she said.

Garcia is set to meet again with the director next week to settle on the concept of the advertisement.

“I think it would have more meaning, it could be more significant and be more meaningful if these mga advertisements nato will be produced by Cebuanos,” Garcia said.

She stressed that Cebuano producers really have the feel of Cebu.

Garcia earlier said she is seriously thinking of coming up with an advertising campaign to sell Cebu following reports that Camarines Sur is now the top tourism destination in the Philippines.

“This will be really presenting Cebu on the national, probably international stage,” Garcia said.

Garcia may replicate what Camarines Sur Gov. Luis Ray Villafuerte did in displaying their campaign ads along EDSA in Metro Manila. One of these is a huge billboard of Villafuerte wakeboarding.

“In the subliminal sense, the meaning there is that this is a dynamic province and we are so much into sports tourism because the leadership itself is right there, is getting his feet wet,” said Garcia.

“I think Cebu can deliver even a louder message,” she added.(FREEMAN)
