CEBU, Philippines - A store in Badian town has lost almost P19,000 sales to an unidentified woman who passed herself off as cousin of the store’s branch manager authorized to collect the money.

Solina Deniega, 40, cashier of Millennium Agri-Raiser Supply in Barangay Poblacion, Badian reported to the police station and claimed that an unidentified woman has tricked her into giving the store’s midday sales on Monday.

Deniega said somebody texted her and introduced herself as cousin of their branch manager in Taboan, Allan Cuico. The texter claimed she was authorized by Cuico to collect the day’s sales.

Few minutes after receiving the text, Deniega was approached by a woman which she described as 5’2” in height, chubby, had a long hair, white complexion, wearing a blue blouse and a skinny pants.

The woman claimed she was authorized by Cuico to collect the money. Deniega readily gave the P18,985.75 sales to the woman without checking if first with their branch manager.

Deniega said it was only an hour after that she has decided to check with their main branch in Taboan if they had sent somebody to collect their sales.

When she was told that nobody was authorized to collect the money, Deniega sought the assistance of the police. A follow-up operation was conducted by the police failed to trace the culprit.— (FREEMAN)
