Gwen's ranking in survey improves
CEBU, Philippines - She’s not in the magic 13 yet, but Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia’s ranking in Pulse Asia survey for the 2013 senatorial preferences has improved.
“I guess it’s because she’s already declared her intentions to run for the Senate,” said her brother Pablo John Garcia, third district congressman and secretary-general of One Cebu Party.
The governor’s spokesman, lawyer Rory Jon Sepulveda, also said that public awareness is among the factors that have contributed to the rise in the governor’s rank after she announced her bid for the Senate in 2013.
A month after she announced her intentions, Garcia ranked number 32 from a list of 44 possible candidates for senator in the May 20 to 26, 2012 survey of Pulse Asia with 1,200 respondents.
Garcia announced her bid for Senator last April 26 and took her oath as member of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) on May 25.
In the previous two surveys, Garcia maintained her 45th spot in a list of 74 possible candidates for senator in February 26 to March 9, 2012 and November 2011 surveys wherein 70 possible candidates were listed.
“We are right on track. Election is still a year away. We need all the support we can get. We can do it,” said Sepulveda in a text message to The FREEMAN.
Pablo John and Sepulveda agreed that the governor has a lot of hard work to do in the next few months and needs more exposures. — (FREEMAN)
