CEBU, Philippines - A money lending firm lost P10,000 to a lone robber in Sitio Luray I, Barangay Poblacion Toledo City yesterday afternoon.
The unidentified robber also tried to steal the Isuzu Highlander of the couple who owns the firm but was forced to leave the vehicle after shooting it out with the responding policemen.
Alfredo Yap, 68, and his wife Lydia, 64, of Barangay Pandacan, Pinamungajan, have just arrived at their office when the unidentified robber wearing bonnet held the latter at gunpoint and declared a hold up.
The robber reportedly demanded for cash prompting the victims to surrender their P10,000. Alfredo tried to grab the firearm and a scuffle ensued which resulted in his injury. The robber whipped Alfredo in the head using his gun before fleeing on board the victim’s vehicle.
The robber was intercepted by the police at Barangay Don Andres Soriano where he engaged in a brief shootout with the blocking policemen. The robber was forced to leave the vehicle and fled towards the bushes.
The police conducted a manhunt operation but all efforts to locate the robber failed. (FREEMAN)
