CEBU, Philippines - Three died and two others were injured in separate vehicular accidents in the town of San Francisco in Camotes Island and in the midwestern town of Balamban last Sunday.
In the first incident, two motorcycle drivers were declared dead on arrival at the Ricardo Maningo District Hospital where they were rushed after their motorcycles collided on the provincial road of Barangay Western Poblacion at around 11:20 in the morning.
Lezeir Mistula, 39, of Barangay Sta. Rita, Poro and Joseph Albaracin, 21, of Sitio Lower Magcarungaw, of the same barangay, died due to severe injures in different parts of their bodies.
Perlita Mistula, 40, wife and back rider of Lezeir, is in critical condition. She was taken to the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for further treatment.
Police investigation disclosed that Lezeir and Perlita were on board their Jemak motorcycle bearing plate number 1154-GF and heading towards San Francisco Municipal hall in Barangay Poblacion.
At the same time, Joseph was also onboard his Motoposh Dagger 125cc motorcycle bearing plate number 4380-UA travelling from the opposite direction.
Upon reaching a slightly curved portion of the road, both motorcycles collided with each other causing all victims to be thrown off the road and sustain severe injuries.
When taken to the hospital, attending physician Dr. Gina Javier, declared the two drivers dead.
In the other incident, a construction worker also died after he was hit by a speeding motorcycle while walking along the national road in Barangay Pundol, Balamban around 9:50 in the evening.
Roger Salazar, 46, married, of Barangay Aliwanay, was declared dead a few minutes later by the attending physician at the Balamban Provincial Hospital where he was taken. (FREEMAN)
