- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines - An elementary school teacher was found dead in Carcar City yesterday morning while a still unidentified man was also found dead in the town of Argao.

Danilo Baclayon, 49, of Sitio Suba, Barangay Sangat, San Fernando, was found dead lying on a bamboo bench along the national highway of Sitio Dunggu-an, Barangay Perrelos, Carcar City at around 3:00 in the morning.

PO2 Rosendo Binondo, Carcar City police investigator, said Baclayon had contusions on his neck and face prompting him to believe that he was mauled.

Baclayon was a grade four teacher of the Balungag Elementary School in San Fernando.

At 12:30 in the afternoon yesterday Baclayon’s friend, Jade Casas, 22, was arrested by the police at Camella Homes in Talisay City after a witness tagged him responsible for the crime.

Binondo said that prior to the incident, Baclayon reportedly came from a drinking session with his three friends who are from Barangay Perrelos.

He said that after sending their friend home, Casas and Baclayon had an altercation where Casas allegedly mauled Baclayon and left him after the incident.

Binondo said Casas refused to disclose the reason of their argument.

“Nahinaykan ra man kuno niya unya hubog na wa na siya kapugong sa iyang kaugalingon,(He said he was drunk and lost control.)” Binondo said.

Casas is now detained at the San Fernando stockade pending criminal charges in court.

Five hours later, another man who was believed to have been a victim of summary execution, was found in Barangay Canbanua, Argao.

The still unidentified victim was placed hogtied inside a sack and succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of his body.

It was Erlinda Lopez, 57, of Sitio Luwak, who discovered the body after following the bloodstains she found on the road while heading to her rice field.

She then informed barangay captain Walter Llerin who eventually informed the police.

PO1 Brian Yosores, one of the responding policemen, said the hands of the victim were hogtied using a nylon rope and its naked body was covered with a blanket. The victim succumbed to six gunshot wounds.

Yosores described the body as 5’2” tall, brown complexion, about 20 and above years old, clean cut and without any tattoo. (FREEMAN)
