TESDA-7 eyes Internation Standard Organization certification

CEBU, Philippines - The Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Central Visayas is working doubly hard to obtain a certification from the International Standard Organization.

TESDA assistant regional director Buenafe Sta. Rita said they are already working to comply with the necessary processes required by an audit-qualifying body for them to pass the ISO accreditation.

Sta. Rita said they visited Tesda-Samar to learn a thing and how they were able to obtain the ISO-certification.

Sta. Rita said they need to learn some kind of benchmarking, how it is done to ensure that they pass the July auditing process.

Benchmarking involves observing how others compete, learn the organization's policies, products, programs and strategies.

The TESDA Samar recently passed the international standard set forth by the Munich-based TUV SUD PSB, the country's leading multi-national certification and inspection body that provided the inspection, certification, valuation, validation, training, and testing services.

"It means that if we are ISO certified, we deliver quality service and that the management wants it cascaded to all the provincial offices," Sta. Rita said.

He added that the ISO certification will boost the morale of the employees.

ISO 9001 is an internationally recognized quality management standard which specifies Quality Management System (QMS) requirements focused on an organization's ability to meet and improve upon customer satisfaction and quality requirements national Standards Organization (ISO) certification, making it the only education agency and among the government certifying agencies to be granted the prestigious status.-(FREEMAN)
