CEBU, Philippines - The cashier and truck driver of a beer distributor lost about P50,000 cash after were robbed by two unidentified men last Saturday afternoon in Barangay Arpili, Balamban.
The victims, Lana Manggay, 20, a cashier from Barangay Magdugo; truck driver Reynaldo Mahinay, 36, of Barangay Luray and their truck boy Jose Manggay, 19, are all from Toledo City.
All three are workers of NDN Merchandise located in Sitio Tunga, Barangay Baliwagan.
The police identified one of the robbers as Ronnie Dumdum, of Barangay Cantuod, Balamban.
PO1 Landy Divinagracia, of Balamban Police Station, said that victims were delivering cases of beer to a store when both robbers, on board a Honda TMX 115 motorcycle without plate number, approached them.
Both robbers were wearing full-faced helmets and armed with firearms of unknown caliber. It was the man in pillion who pointed his firearm to Lana and suddenly grabbed the bag containing P48,000 proceeds.
PO3 Arvi Banate, Balamban police investigator, said that one of the victims identified Dumdum in their rogue’s gallery. He said the victim recognized the shape of Dumdum’s face and his eyes.
Banate said Dumdum was among the noted robbers in Balamban and was one of those who were arrested by the police during separate operations.
“Sikat-sikat sad ni sila nga tulisan, ang uban ani nila nangadakpan na, (They are notorious robbers. Some have already been arrested.)” Banate said.
Banate added that Dumdum has pending charges for illegal possession of firearms but was released from jail after he posted bail.
The police are now conducting follow-up operations to arrest the robbers.— (FREEMAN)
