CEBU, Philippines - At least 10 establishments, including a bookstore, have been affected by the ongoing management conflict of the Mango Square Mall.
Luym Development Corporation through its consultant yesterday said that eight of their 39 tenants have been operating without power after a new management committee took over control of the mall few days ago. The Managing Committee (Mancom) reportedly cut off the power supply of these tenants.
Ludodev consultant Jenar Suson said they have already received several complaints from their tenants that they do not have power supply. Suson said the situation which has been going on for the past few days has already affected the tenants financially.
Despite the situation, however, Suson said they “will not resort to violence” because their lawyers are doing all the legal actions concerning the takeover. Some of the tenants have already threatened to pull out.
Suson said the tenants have been made to choose between them and the new management. Some of them have been coerced to sign a contract with Mancom. Those tenants whose power supply has been cut off were forced to operate using a generator set.
The FREEMAN went to MANCOM’s office at the ground floor of the mall to ask for their comment but no one granted an interview. The takeover happened last May 8 after 18 security guards from Security Specialist Inc. allegedly with the aid of some policemen took control of the building. — (FREEMAN)
