CEBU, Philippines - A man was killed while another one was seriously injured in two separate shooting incidents in Cebu City over the weekend.

The shooting incident in Barangay Ermita took the life of a man who remains unidentified as of press time. He was shot by an unidentified assailant at 10:30 pm last Saturday.

Investigation shows that the victim was walking along a dimly lit portion of the roadside in Ermita when the unidentified armed person appeared from behind and shot him without any reason.

Responding policemen found the victim lying in prone position with a gunshot wound in his nape. The bullet exited on his lower jaw.

Policemen recovered a spent shell of a caliber .45 pistol from the crime scene. The body was taken to the Surelife Funeral Homes at N. Bacalso Ave. for autopsy.

Two hours later, another shooting incident happened in front of Kuerks Restobar at Limbaga Compound, Barangay Kamagayan.

Leonilo Rodrigo of J. Labra St., Barangay Guadalupe was injured. David Casas told the police that they were having a drinking session inside the restobar when he heard the victim having a verbal tussle with a group of youngsters sitting beside their table.

A few minutes later, Casas saw a commotion outside the bar.

He said the victim tried to escape from his attackers but one member of the group pulled out a handgun and shot Rodrigo, hitting the latter in the right portion of his forehead.

The victim was rushed by ERUF personnel to Chong Hua Hospital while the suspect fled.— (FREEMAN)
