Two shot dead on separate incidents

CEBU, Philippines - Two people were shot dead, including an agriculturist of the Philippine Coconut Authority, in separate incidents last Monday.

Eduardo Enanoria, 48, of Barangay Poblacion III, Carcar City died on the spot after he got shot by still unidentified gunman while on his way home in Sitio Danao, Barangay Valencia Monday afternoon.

In a separate incident, Wilfredo Perocillo, 50, of Sitio Back Rubber World, Barangay Basak-San Nicolas, also died on the spot after he was shot in the head by unidentified assailant in Sitio Bamboo Groove of the same barangay at about 6:00 p.m. last Monday.

Enanoria, an agriculturist of PCA, was believed to have been mistaken for a lending collector by his assailant.

Insp. Arvi Arbuis, deputy chief of the Carcar City police station, said that robbery is the possible motive of the crime. According to the police, Enanoria could have been robbed by his assailant but refused to give his sling bag prompting the latter to shoot him.

Police investigator recovered an empty shell for caliber .45 ammunition and the victim’s wallet containing P825 in different denominations. Police investigators are zeroing in on the robbery angle because the victim allegedly did not have an enemy being a lay minister.

On the incident in Cebu City, Perocillo was hitching a ride with his friend when the unidentified gunman shot him in the head.

The victim’s friend, John Ala, 31, said he was driving his motorcycle slowly, with the victim as back rider, along an alley when he first heard the shot. The victim fell down to the ground which caused Ala to sped off towards Sitio Back Rubber World, apparently to ask for help. In his haste, Ala left the body of his friend behind.

Police investigators said that the gunman approached Perocillo and shot him again in the chest.

The police recovered Perocillo’s gun, a caliber .22 Magnum Black Widow Derringer, but no empty shells were found at the crime scene. — (FREEMAN)
