Man dies after bike rams into another
CEBU, Philippines - A man, who was driving a motorcycle, died after ramming into another speeding motorcycle in Barangay Basak, Mandaue City at past 5pm last Thursday.
Police identified the fatality as Ryan Mirabueno, 22, single, a resident of Barangay Cogon, Bogo City.
SPO4 Apolinario Nies, investigator of Mandaue City Police Office Traffic Division, said the victim accidentally hit the motorcycle driven by one Jose Dandy Amolo, 39.
The victim was driving the motorcycle bound for the northern part of Cebu when he hit Amolo’s motorcycle at the national highway in Barangay Basak. Amolo was on his way home to Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.
Both victims were thrown off their motorcycles. Unfortunately, Mirabueno hit his head hard on the pavement.
Nies said both men were wearing helmets but the headgear was not enough to protect Mirabueno’s head. He was reportedly driving at high speed before the collision.
Mirabueno was rushed to the Mandaue City District Hospital but he did not make it to the hospital alive.
Amolo was also taken to the hospital with several bruises on different parts of his body.
He, however, was placed on detention at the Basak Police Station and was freed the following day after he posted bail. Police are preparing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide against him. (FREEMAN)
