LP's flip-flopping confuses Pablo John

CEBU, Philippines - Third District Rep. Pablo John Garcia, One Cebu Party's gubernatorial candidate in the upcoming 2013 elections, admitted having confused by the flip-flopping statement of his would-be opponent.

Garcia was reacting to the recent pronouncement made by Liberal Party's provincial chairman and gubernatorial wannabe Hilario "Jun-Jun" Davide III that he is willing to slide down if the party leadership decides to field Vice Governor Agnes Magpale instead.

"I am confused but I'm sure also his supporters are equally confused," Garcia said.

Garcia said he was thinking that the LP has already decided who their candidate would be since it has been over a year that Davide's name was floated as candidate for governor.

Garcia however refused to think that Davide's pronouncement was a sign that he is threatened by his running for governor since the statement came a day after he proclaimed his gubernatorial bid.

"Tayming lang siguro nga he came out with that statement day after I declared for governor. I would not be so presumptuous to say that they are threatened by my candidacy," Garcia said.

Davide earlier said that he is willing to give way to Magpale if the party thinks that she is the most winnable candidate for governor.

Both Davide and Magpale confirmed an ongoing talks between LP and Bakud, Magpale's party, for a possible team up in 2013.

On the other hand, Magpale is also being considered by One Cebu Party as their vice gubernatorial candidate.

In fact, Garcia welcomed Magpale's statement that she would be comfortable running for vice governor instead of governor.

"Haum kaayo sa plano sa One Cebu," Garcia said, adding that they are planning to offer Magpale the vice gubernatorial slot for One Cebu.

But Garcia clarified that they will respect the process of Magpale's party.

"We will wait for whatever the decision of Bakud Party and Vice Governor Agnes Magpale," Garcia said.

A high-placed source however told The FREEMAN that Magpale has already committed to be Davide's running mate.

Davide ran for governor in 2010 elections but lost to Governor Gwendolyn Garcia who is now on her third and last term. (FREEMAN)
