CEBU, Philippines - Over a million worth of camera and other equipment were taken from the house owned by a Korean national Tuesday night at Barangay Lahug, Cebu city.

In Danao City, two women lost a total of P35,000 after they were robbed by unknown men in Barangay Taytay, also last Tuesday.

The house of Seong Myong Seog, 45, of Seoul, South Korea, lost a total of P1.3 million worth of things.

Shahani May Yu, 24, Seong’s live-in partner for over a year, discovered the incident at around 10:30 p.m. Yu immediately reported the incident to the Cebu City Police Office Theft and Robbery Section. She was at her family’s house when the incident occurred between 12 noon until the discovery of the incident.

SPO23 Henry Estory, lead investigator, told The FREEMAN that the burglar entered the house by destroying the main door. From the main door, the perpetrator went to the master’s bedroom where the Korean’s safe was kept.

The burglar managed to open the vault where the victim’s belongings were kept.

A total of three cameras, six camera lenses, two high-end watches (Rolex and Oris), a Mac book and a mobile phone were stolen.

Estoy said they are eying the possibility that the burglar had an insider. This was after their investigation revealed that the victim had a female househelper whom he fired when he decided to return to Korea.

“Inside job is possible but the maid could not have done the act. Extreme force was used to open the main door that a female could not do,” he said.

Investigators have lifted several fingerprint specimens from the crime scene which they have forwarded to the Crime Laboratory for analysis to identify the perpetrator.

Seog is set to return from Korea within the week.

In the Danao incident, Joy Napigkit, 47 years old of Cotcot Lilo-an and Joy Esguera, 33 years old of Canduman, Mandaue City, were riding a tricycle from Dunggo-an, Danao City and upon reaching near La Farge, a man wearing a jacket and cap flagged down the tricycle.

The man covered his face with a cloth. When they reached Barangay Taytay, Danao City, the man declared a hold-up and pointed a gun at the women-passengers.

He took from Napigkit P1,500 cash, a camera worth P12,000, two cellphones and a flashlight while from Esguerra, he took P5,000 cash and a cellphone worth P11,000. — (FREEMAN)
