Woman killed in Dumanjug
CEBU, Philippines - A 70-year-old woman was killed by her own relative last Sunday in Barangay Lawaan, Dumanjug town at around 7:20 in the evening.
It was Generoso Gimarino, 51 and barangay tanod of the said place, who found the dead body of Sansa Belocura at a grassy area. Sansa’s nose and mouth were bleeding. Wounds were also found in her neck.
The municipal health officer checked the body and said Sansa had several broken ribs and that her chest was possibly hit with a hard object.
Arrested at around 11:00 in the evening during a follow- up operation was the relative of the victim, Arnold Belocura. He was collared at his house which was located in the same barangay.
SPO1 Felipe Vibar, Dumanjug police investigator, said Sansa was walking home when she accidentally met Arnold along the road.
Vibar said nobody actually saw the incident but what they saw was coconut fruits beside the body. He added that there was no hacked wounds found except for the injuries in the neck. They theorized that Sansa was strangled by the suspect before she was hit with coconuts.
Further investigation of the police disclosed that Arnold held a grudge against Sansa. Vibar said Arnold, who police learned was always drunk, possibly asked money from Sansa who refused.
Arnold denied he did the crime but his cousin testified that it was he who killed Sansa.
“Didto man na siya sa iyang ig-agaw human sa hitabo nitug-an ngadto pero namo ni-deny na siya,” Vibar said over a phone interview. (He admitted to his cousins although he won’t admit the crime before the police.)
A criminal case for murder will be filed against Arnold at the Cebu Provincial Prosecutor’s Office today. – (FREEMAN)
