CEBU, Philippines - Close to 50 companies have confirmed to participate in the local jobs fair organized by the Provincial Public Employment and Services Office (PESO) on May 1 in celebration of the Labor Day.
Julius Chua, Employment Office designate of PESO, said they have accommodated the maximum number of 48 companies and declined more companies who called them up to join the fair.
This, he said, as they still have to accommodate at least four government agencies in a One Stop Shop in which the applicants can get their requirements particularly if they get hired.
This includes the National Bureau of Investigation, Social Security System, National Statistics Office and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Chua said.
Chua said most of the companies include call center agencies, production jobs, office works, and factory work, and several more companies located in Cebu.
He said they required the companies to either reject the applicants applying their respective companies or hire them on the spot.
“Para at the end of the day makahibaw dayon ang mga applicant whether hired ba sila or not,” Chua said.
Chua said they are still accepting applications for registration until May 1 and open to all graduates, including high school graduates.
Dr. Mathia Baguia, PESO manager, has said that the jobs fair would help the new graduates students get a job.
“Since we have many fresh graduates who would like to be employed, this would help them seek jobs and have at least two years of experience before applying overseas,” she said.
There are already over 600 pre-registered applicants and the PESO is expecting more. Others may also register during the day itself. Pre-registered applicants are given priority numbers and will be entertained first. - (FREEMAN)
