7 hurt in road mishap
CEBU, Philippines - At least seven people were injured after a public utility jeepney bumped into a taxicab along C. Padilla St., Barangay Duljo-Fatima last Saturday.
The PUJ driver, Jomar Larriosa, 25, reportedly lost control of the vehicle and bumped into the taxi unit driven by one Ernesto Hermosa, 63.
PO2 Wilfredo Caperida of Cebu City Traffic Patrol Group said the PUJ, with route no. 11A, was traveling toward the downtown area at 6am when it hit the taxicab, which was traveling the opposite lane.
Caperida said Larriosa had claimed losing control of his vehicle because of the slippery road.
Due to the impact, the six passengers onboard the jeepney and the female passenger inside the taxi sustained sustained minor bruises.
The victims were all taken to the Cebu City Medical Center and were transferred later to the Cebu Doctors Hospital.
Both vehicles also sustained dents on their front part.
Larriosa was arrested and detained, Caperida said, but will most likely be released today as the PUJ operator shouldered the victims’ hospital expenses as agreed. The taxi driver did not also press charges as the taxicab was repaired. — (FREEMAN)
