CEBU, Philippines - A 13-year-old girl was reportedly raped by her textmate during their first meeting or “eyeball” last Thursday night in Barangay Bacayan, Cebu City.
Adonis Binoy, 46, of Barangay Zapatera, this city, admitted that he raped the victim whom he knew only through text messages roughly two to three months ago.
Binoy, who works as a construction worker in the area, admitted that he managed to acquire the victim’s cellular phone number through the help of his co-workers.
They started exchanging text messages and the suspect reportedly told the victim that he is still young and single.
PO2 Jasmine Viscara, Women and Children Protection Desk Officer of the Talamban Police Station, said that the victim was held by the arms and coerced to come with suspect after they met at around 7 p.m.
Viscara said that Binoy brought the victim to his rented room where the girl was reportedly raped.
She said the girl tried to resist but was overpowered by the victim.
A few hours later, the girl managed to escape from the suspect and reported the incident to her mother who sought police assistance.
“Gi-ilad sa biktima ang suspect mao to nga nakalingkawas siya. (The victim fooled the suspect and managed to escape.)” Viscara said.
The police arrested the suspect inside his room.
Binoy sustained bruises on his face after he was mauled by bystanders while he was brought to the Talamban Police Station.
Viscara said they are still waiting for the victim’s relatives before they could file the necessary charges for violating Republic Act 7610 also known as the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
Earlier this week, a 24-year-old lesbian was also reported to have been abducted near Carbon Public Market and gang raped by four unidentified men at Barangay Sambag 2. Five days ago, a 12-year-old girl was also abducted and raped by an unidentified assailant in Barangay Guadalupe. –(FREEMAN)
