Horizons asks HLURB to reconsider

- Jessica Ann R. Pareja -

CEBU, Philippines - The developer of Horizons 101 which recently caught the public eye after a portion of its retaining wall collapsed, appealed to the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB) to spare the company from administrative sanctions.

Cerwin T. Eviota, Taft Property Venture and Development Corporation Communications Consultant, said that HLURB must reconsider since the company has already taken action on the incident.

“As media reports would attest, we have attended to the families affected by the incident…The company will submit the required documents and information, majority of which, had already been provided to HLURB,” Eviota said.

He said that the contractor that TPVDC commissioned to do the excavation works is taking responsibility of the collapse of the retaining wall.Measures to correct and prevent the same incident are included in the seven-step restoration program they submitted that must be finished within 60 days.

Eviota said that the sanction of HLURB will further hurt the investment of the stakeholders of the project. Eviota assured HLURB that the city government and TPVDC have created a monitoring team that will check the progress of the restoration work daily within 60 days.

A portion of the retaining wall supposedly to protect the soil from erosion while excavation is in progress for the construction of a residential condominium called Horizons 101 collapsed last week.

TPVDC engineers said the collapse is due to the water build up in the soil. — (FREEMAN)
