CEBU, Philippines - Close to a thousand residents of Argao town in southern Cebu have benefited from the free medical services offered by government and private agencies last Saturday.

This was bared yesterday by Capitol consultant Jose Ma. Gastardo, the president of Cebu Queen City Lions Club who spearheaded its second medical mission for this year.

Gastardo said that Cebu Queen City Lions Club has been blessed with various opportunities in life and with the blessings of God.

“It is in the acknowledgement of these blessings that we reach out to the less privileged and share with them what we have,” he said.

Gastardo reported there were 341 patients who availed of free medical consultations with free medicines of which 226 were adults and 115 were children.

There were 300 patients who received free reading eyeglasses; 150 patients underwent tooth extraction with free medicines; 98 availed of free circumcision with free medicine and ice cream; 66 children and adults availed of free haircut.

Gastardo said there were also four who availed of the free legal consultations by lawyers who are members of their association.

The medical mission was supported by the Cebu Provincial Government led by Governor Gwendolyn Garcia; Argao Mayor Edsel Galeos and barangay officials.

The Cebu Far Eastern Drug, Inc. and the International Pharmaceutical Incorporated provided free medicines.

The Cebu City Dental Team, 78th Infantry Battalion of Philippine Army, Southwestern University Medical Team, Argao Rural Health Workers, Argao Police and barangay health workers also deployed their staff in support to the medical mission.—(FREEMAN)
