Driver shot dead
CEBU, Philippines - A “habal-habal” (motorcycle-for-hire) driver was shot dead by an unknown gunman in a mountain barangay of Cebu City Sunday afternoon.
Eric Tarroja, 21, of Sitio Gubangbukid, Barangay Adlaon, succumbed to two gunshot wounds in different parts of his body at around 3 p.m.
Tarroja’s passenger, Cheyn, said that she and her 8-month-old child were on board the victim’s blue Yamaha Vega motorcycle on their way home when the unidentified assailant flagged them down.
The witness said she was ordered by the assailant to runaway while pointing his gun at the driver. Cheyn, 20, said she scampered for safety and heard two burst of gunfire.
The victim sustained wounds on his back, left chest and nape causing his death.
The gunman took the victim’s motorcycle and sped off from the crime scene together with another man riding a red motorcycle.
Seized from the crime scene were two empty shells of a cal. 45 ammunition. (FREEMAN)
