Man "harassed" women during x-ray
CEBU, Philippines - Six women have accused a radiologic technologist of acts of lasciviousness after they were allegedly molested while inside the x-ray room of the Binoya Clinic in Sitio Dapdap, Barangay Poblacion III, Carcar City last Thursday afternoon.
Of the six, however, only five pursued the filing of charges against Rey Ong Ayuman, a native of Cagayan de Oro, who fled on foot after learning that the victims complained before the Carcar City Police Station.
All victims are aged 19. Four of them, all residents of Barangay Bulasa, are third year students of the Cebu Technological University- Argao Campus. The other victim, a resident of Barangay Bugho, Moalboal reportedly plans to study in the same school this coming June.
One of the alleged victims said she went to the clinic for her x-ray requirement for an on-the-job training at the Provincial Capitol. She was with her three other classmates.
When she got inside the x-ray room, Ayuman allegedly told her to take off her clothes and wear the x-ray gown provided. Ayuman then assisted her in positioning before a box-like apparatus mounted on the wall. It was reportedly at this instance when Ayuman allegedly groped her breasts.
“Nihunong siya kadali unya nibalik napud iyang gipislit akong totoy una ko gi-X-rayhan (He stopped for a while but groped my breasts yet again before he proceeded with the procedure),” she said.
The same incident allegedly happened to the four other women.
According to the mother of one of the victims, she wanted her daughter to get an x-ray at the Isidro Kintanar Memorial Hospital in Argao but her daughter insisted to have it at the Binoya Clinic.
“Dili kuno siya sa Argao kay dugay didto makuha ang result kumpara sa Carcar nga makuha dayon (My daughter did not want to get it in Argao because the result often takes a long time to be released,” she said.
It was at 9pm when her daughter arrived home crying and told her about what happened.
“Dapat ma-priso gyud kay dili lang akong anak unya ang maingon ani (He should be placed in jail because he did not do it to my daughter alone),” the mother said.
Martiniano Patoc, cousin of one of the victims, told The FREEMAN that his cousin narrated the incident to them crying.
“Naghilak lang gyud siya nisulti nga mao na to ang nahitabo (She was crying the entire time she was narrating the incident to us),” he said.
In a separate interview, the clinic’s owner, Dr. Ardel Binoya, said he never had any idea of Ayuman’s activities until the complainants surfaced.
“Sila ra gud sa sulod kung way moreklamo wa pud ko kahibalo (My staff are the only ones in the clinic. I would never know anything unless someone complains),” he said.
Ayuman has been working at the clinic for almost a year. Binoya admitted Ayuman has an attitude problem like being under the influence of liquor during office hours and it was possible that he had a drink when the alleged incident happened.
Charges for acts of lasciviousness is now being prepared against Ayuman who is still at large. — (FREEMAN)
