CEBU, Philippines - A 12-year-old girl was reportedly abducted and raped by an unidentified man after she bought bread in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City, yesterday dawn.
Barangay T. Padilla tanods found her walking disoriented along New Imus Road around 6 a.m.
She later told PO2 Janelle Junco, Women and Children Protection investigator of the Guadalupe Police Station, that she just bought bread from a bakery a few meters away from their house around 5 a.m. when a man grabbed and dragged her to a blue motorcycle.
She claimed she was brought to a house in Barangay Mabolo where she was reportedly raped.
Junco said the victim managed to escape from the house and wandered the streets until she reached Barangay T. Padilla where the tanods found her.
The girl was immediately brought to the barangay hall because of her look and behavior.
Tanods then brought the girl to the Parian Police Station for proper recording and later to the Mabolo Police Station.
There the girl was asked by the police to lead them to the house where she was allegedly brought and raped, but police are convinced they were led to the wrong house.
The girl was later brought to the Guadalupe Police Station where she reunited with her worried mother.
Barangay Day-as Gender and Development officer Flor Escorial said the girl's mother visited their barangay hall at around 9:30 a.m. after receiving reports that her daughter was seen in the area.
The girl was brought to the Pink Room of the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center for medical examination.
The police will be coordinating with the Department of Social Welfare and Development-7 Crisis Intervention Unit to assess the victim's current situation. — (FREEMAN)
