- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines - The injured victim during the road mishap between a Honda Civic and an Isuzu prime mover at the South Road Properties on Tuesday evening is already in a stable condition but is still being treated at a hospital in Cebu City.

Manuel Roguero Jr., 36, of Duljo Fatima, Cebu City, is the driver of the Honda Civic bearing plate number WFY-217 and was injured during the incident.

Other vehicles involved in the road mishap were the Isuzu prime mover with trailer, bearing plate number GWD-665 and driven by Jerson Tulo, 32, of Barangay Sta. Cruz, Liloan, and the Fuzo Canter aluminum van bearing plate number YKZ-150 driven by Dionisio Iligan, 36, of Barangay San Roque, Talisay City.

Gian Carlo Canobas, the nurse in-charge of the 5C male ward, said Roguero had no fractures and had undergone operation right after arriving at the hospital.

Canobas said the patient is already stable and awake.

“Gibutangan lang siya ug tubo sa baga temporarily to support sa iyang breathing, (A tube was inserted into his lungs to temporarily support his breathing.)”, he told The FREEMAN in a phone interview.

SPO1 Dionisio Galo, Cebu City traffic investigator, said that Tulo was heading south while Roguero was driving on the Mambaling access road and was about to make a left turn when he was hit by Tulo.

Galo said Tulo bumped the left side of the car and because of this, the car was dragged about 10 meters from the point of impact based on the skid marks found.

Roguero reportedly lost control of the car and swerved left, hitting the Fuzo Canter which was just parked.

Roguero was rushed to the hospital while Tulo is now detained at the Cebu City Police stockade pending criminal charges in court.

The car is also in the custody of the police. — (FREEMAN)
