CEBU, Philippines - A 75-year-old woman was found dead inside her own room at Villalon Drive, Barangy Capitol Site, Cebu City on Tuesday evening.
Teresita Nengasca, a former employee of Cebu Doctors Hospital, was found already lifeless, by her 30-year-old son Ronald, at around 11:30 pm. The victim was alone inside their house when the incident occurred after her children left for the night.
Teresita was already seated on a chair when the police arrived at the crime scene.
Ronald told the police he was the one who carried and placed his mother's bloodied body on a nearby chair before he called for police assistance.
The victim's room was also in chaos after the robber reportedly went through her things.
Despite reports that two boxes were reportedly emptied by the perpetrator, several other jewelries were left inside both boxes.
The Cebu City Police Office Theft and Robbery Section asked the family of the victim to submit a list of things that have gone missing from the crime scene.
Sr. Insp. Jul Mohammad Jamiri, homicide chief, said that the victim's face was streaked with blood though there were no open wounds anywhere on her body.
A broken knife was recovered near a pool of blood where the victim reportedly fell face-down.
Jamiri said Teresita's remains will be subjected to an autopsy to determine the cause of her death. Investigators are also eyeing the possibility that the victim was not killed but possibly encountered an accident.
"Naghubag naman ang iyang nawong, nga napuno og dugo. Murag gi-atake ug natumba siya, (Her face was puffy and filled with blood. She may have had a heart attack and fell.) ," Jamiri said.
He said they are closely working with the CCPO TRS after the assailant gained entrance to her room through an open window. —Ryan Christopher J. Sorote/MIT (THE FREEMAN)
