"Cebu Female Network" launched
CEBU, Philippines - The Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines-Cebu Plant yesterday launched its “Cebu Female Network”, a company program that aims to protect women in the workplace from sexual harassment, promote beauty and wellness and women empowerment as part of Women’s Month celebration.
Coca-Cola Human Resource Office manager Ann Trasmonte said that the management is gearing towards gender diversity wherein women are assigned in a task previously occupied by men.
Around 85 female employees attended in yesterday’s orientation and “Diversity Forum” with several women in various fields as speakers.
Trasmonte said Coca-Cola used to be a male-dominated company but now they have more female employees working on a task previously held by men.
“Women have specific needs from men. We are having this program for their career development, health and wellness as well as an arm for community relations,” Trasmonte said.
Janice Minor, a furniture company owner, said that her company is run by competent and skilled women responsible for the success of the company whose products goes worldwide - as far as Russia, Finland and Iceland.
“It’s no longer a man’s world out there. Women are flexible and very creative. Connect yourself with the Lord. Enhance your strength and work on your weaknesses. God will not put you in a place where you are not significant,” Minor said to the employees
Cebu Vice Governor Agnes Magpale also talked about the topic on Sexual Harassment in the Workplace wherein she said that the Provincial Women’s Commission, which she co-chairs, will provide legal assistance for victims of such crime. (FREEMAN)
