CEBU, Philippines - At least two people were killed in separate road accidents in the towns of Minglanilla and Balamban on Sunday.

In the first incident, a 54-year-old man died after the motorcycle he was riding rammed a concrete electric post in Mariane Village, Barangay Calajoan, Minglanilla about 4 p.m.

Allan Lumacad Sr. of Sitio Bacay, Barangay Tulay was reportedly under the influence of liquor when the incident happened.

PO2 Wendel Arañas of the Minglanilla Police Station said this was confirmed by the victim’s son, whom police failed to identify.

Lumacad was on his way home driving his Ramstar motorcycle, bearing plate number 6817GP, when he hit the electric post.

He was taken to the Minglanilla District Hospital where he died later.

Police said the son of Lumacad confirmed that his father was under the influence of liquor during the incident.

In Barangay Abuca-yan, Balamban, Jover Rivera, 31, of Barangay Baliwagan died after the tricycle he was driving collided with a motorcycle around 8:15 p.m.

Rivera was driving his Kawasaki passenger tricycle, bearing plate number 7T3633, and was traveling north.

Traveling in the opposite direction was Antonio Ceniza, 40, of Sitio Buhing-Tubig, Barangay Buanoy who was driving his Honda Wave motorcycle.

PO1 Johnrell Romero of the Balamban Police Station said Ceniza was zigzagging until he encroached on the other lane and collided with Rivera.

Rivera died on the spot while Ceniza was taken to the Balamban Provincial Hospital for treatment.

Balamban policemen are now preparing charges for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide against Ceniza, who is now detained at the Balamban police stockade.  (FREEMAN)
